Now Accepting Applications
The NKITA Award of Excellence is open to all
Northern Kentucky Chamber members who import or export from their operations in
the Northern Kentucky / Cincinnati USA area. Application deadline is June 16,
2006. The winner will be announced at the Annual Luncheon on Thursday, August
23rd at the Ft. Mitchell Country Club.

European Union News Brief
European Commission Authorizes Import and
Marketing of Three Oilseed GMOs
The European Commission has approved a 10-year
authorization of three new genetically-modified oilseed rape crops-Ms8, Rf3 and
Ms8xRf3-which have been made resistant to the herbicide glufosinate- ammonium.
The oilseed rapes will only be utilized in animal feed or for industrial
purposes and strict monitoring procedures will apply for their use.

USCIS Update
USCIS REACHES FY 2008 H-1B CAP
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS)
announced on April 3rd, 2007 that it has received enough H-1B petitions to meet
the congressionally mandated cap for fiscal year 2008 (FY 2008). USCIS will use
a random selection process for all cap- subject filings received on April 2,
2007 and April 3, 2007.
