Position will start immediately and has duration through February 2008, with possibility of extension. Job Duties: Assist with the implementation and review of the Industrial Hygiene needs and requirements within the CS&I organization. Duties will include: review of carcinogen control program, review and update baseline hazard assessments, perform annual review of permit confined spaces, assist in the conduct of workplace hazard assessments, provide monitoring support to the various work groups, interpret results and convey the results to the work group or monitored individual. Assist in the review and updating of policies and procedures which require IH authority. Perform other IH tasks as necessary. Required Qualifications: B.A./B.S. degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety, Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Medicine, or related biological science or equivalent education and experience (2 years experience is equivalent to 1 year of college level education), plus a minimum of 5 years experience in IH related work. 5 years past experience in interpreting monitoring/sampling results. Outstanding technical writing skills and ability to work independently. Other Desirable Qualifications: Good communication skills and background in the coordination, development, and administration of IH programs at nuclear or complex industrial facilities is highly desired. Experience and knowledge working with bargaining unit employees, various industrial and heavy equipment work areas, including their hazards and chemical requirements preferred, but not required. Knowledge of expectations of both the DOE VPP and the Integrated Safety Management System (ISMS) is desired, but not required. American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH) Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or Certified Associate Industrial Hygienist (CAIH) preferred.
