Hello.  I need your help, please.  A friend of mine is doing a =
membership recruitment project for the Flint (Mich.) Area Chamber of =
Commerce and is looking for "a few good people" to work the telephones =
rounding up new members.  Know anyone who might be interested in working =

The campaign concept worked successfully when he tested it with an area =
chamber of commerce a while back.  A lot of "marketing noise" =
(promotions, advertising, newspaper articles, etc.) and a letter from =
the Chamber's volunteer campaign chairperson (well known, respected =
businessperson) softens the ground for what I describe as a politely =
aggressive sales call . "Hello, I'm calling to follow with Mr. =
Chairman's letter that I hope you got and extend his invitation to =
become a part of the Flint Chamber . etc."

He is looking for a small number of "sales reps" to contact prospective =
members . generally to the owner or manager of a small to mid-size =
business.  See the profile below.  The project will run for three weeks =
from Oct. 31 to Nov. 18.  Sales reps can determine the amount of hours =
they will devote to the project.  I envision a sales rep who works a =
full day making 100 calls during the business day (9a - 5p), connecting =
with 20-25 people, and selling 3-4 memberships.  That's the way it =
worked in the previous campaign.  A sales rep will earn $60 for each =
member recruited . 17 members in a week earn $1,020 in sales =
commissions.  Sales reps in the previous campaign earned between $27 and =
$34 per hours worked. =20
