Summary:

Exercises lean manufacturing or Kaizen, such as 5S and Taguchi Methods in order
to increase the productivity of the facility. Plans and manages the industrial
activity processes, materials, and products in order to promote continuous
profit to the facility. Directs production, distribution, and marketing
operations for the plant by performing the following duties personally or
through subordinate supervisors.
Caveat: Please be advised that a tremendous responsibility to your company and
employees accompanies the title of Plant Manager. This position is NOT a 8:00
AM to 5:00 PM or Monday to Friday position, and therefore, the ideal candidate
must be prepared and willing to make sacrifices as would benefit the company
operations.
Duties and Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

l Oversees the following operations:
Ø Manufacturing and cost analysis.
Ø Sales analysis.
Ø Logistics such as warehousing and distribution of product lines.
Ø Plant administration, including hiring, firing, training, and
scheduling of employees.
l Understands and develops industrial activities while unifying
management policies. Assures quality of plant operations through
implementation of lean or quality methodology. Coordinates production,
distribution, warehousing, and sales in accordance with policies, principles,
and procedures established by management.
l Plans and assures profit by quality based production while reducing
excessive cost. Reviews production costs and product quality, and modifies
production and inventory control programs to maintain and enhance profitable
operation of facility. Recommends budgets to management. Directs preparation
of accounting records.
l Confers with customers and representatives of associated industries
to evaluate and promote improved and expanded services in the area.
l Reviews operations of competing organizations and plans and directs
sales programs to develop new markets.
l Establishes work measurement programs to create and promote labor
standardization. Copes with any emergency situations during production, such
as repair of malfunctioning machinery and preventing outflow of inadequate
products.
l Determines and attacks/challenges crucial issues for improvement of
production by understanding characteristics of processes and products. Grasps
the cause and effect of current production situation by using statistical
process control (SPC) in order to reevaluate and reset target production level.
l Carries out product engineering, prototyping, and new product
introduction and testing.
Requirements:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
l Ideal candidate will have experience in working as Plant Manager in
similar industry for 5 years and 10-15 years experience in manufacturing
engineering.
l Familiarity with concepts of lean manufacturing or Kaizen, such as
5S, Taguchi Methods.
l Knowledge of machine shop atmosphere, or hands on work is desired.
l Strong knowledge of strategic business planning and budgeting.
l Basic knowledge of compliance with federal and municipal government
regulations.
l BS in manufacturing, mechanical, or industrial engineering desired,
but experience and knowledge will outweigh education.
