This manager will lead a team of highly skilled Storage Management
Engineers within Enterprise Computing. As part of this high-
performance group, this individual will be accountable for the
design/build and day-to-day support of Bank One's S/390 Mainframe
Storage Management products, tools and processes. This position will
interface with multiple support teams such as Operations and
Enterprise Production Control, Level II and III Technical Support,
Mainframe Engineering, Performance Engineering, Storage Management,
Production Assurance and Enterprise Systems Management to provide
high-quality support services to these organizations and Line of
Business customers. This position will also be involved in the
production issue resolution process along with members of the incident
management team and other support groups. As a Manager, the
successful candidate will, develop organization and technology
strategy, manage projects and resources, assign tasks to employees,
monitor the status of assigned tasks or requests, coordinate scheduling
and ensure the entire team is focused on the state of the production
infrastructure. This person will also develop operational standards,
develop/manage documentation and reports, participate in continuous
improvement initiatives, assess impact and risk to production, train
employees on processes/procedures and maintain technical proficiency
within the group. The incumbent is expected to have very strong
leadership skills, be obsessed with customer service and quality, excel
in all forms of communication and possess negotiation skills required
within very large and complex environment.

This management position requires a minimum of 10 years in Information
Technology, 8 years supporting MVS/OS390/ZOS mainframe operations
and 2 years supporting a Parallel Sysplex environment. A minimum of 3
years managing a technical support group in a production environment
and 5 years of Storage Administration experience is also required.
Background MVS/OS390 Systems Programming is highly desirable.
Strong working knowledge of mainframe storage devices such as EMC
Symmetrix, IBM Shark, IBM 34xx Tape Devices and IBM Virtual Tape
Subsystems is also required. Working knowledge of ICF, ISMF and
DF/SMS functions and utilities. Prior experience with two or more
subsystems such as VTAM/NCP, CICS, DB2, IMS and or MQ Series is
expected. Candidates must demonstrate superior interviewing and
negotiation skills. The ability to assess changing business requirements
and develop / execute tactical and strategic plans to meet deadlines is a
key success factor. Two or more years of project management
experience is a plus. This manager must demonstrate strong analytical
and problem solving skills. The candidate must also be able to handle
stressful situations and maintain composure under pressure. Prior
banking industry is preferred. Applicants are required to be adaptable,
resourceful, customer focused and relentless in the pursuit of quality.
The ability to relate technical issues in terms of impacts to business
operations is a key success factor. Candidates must be a team player
and self starter, willing to take accountability and drive issues/projects
to completion. A BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering or
Mathematics is required. Experience with ACF2, Zeke/Zebb,
Changeman, PSF, Tivoli TEC, Peregrine, NDM, Connect Direct and skills
supporting Novell, NT, AIX, Solaris, Tandem, AS400, DEC/VAX would
also be a plus.
