      Job Description:  
      PURPOSE: To provide expert assistance to the FBI Laboratory Security 
Office by planning, guiding, adapting, and conducting complex reviews of 
information requiring protection consistent with established guidelines based 
on policies, directives, manuals, handbooks, and other materials and guidance.  
Develop, recommend and implement practices that enhance the administration and 
coordination of information security activities to ensure compliance with 
varying governmental agency and company security policies and procedures. 
Assist in the administration of FBI Security Programs.
       
      ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
       
      Provide expert level planning, guidance, direction, and active 
participation during the review and analysis of complex and diverse information 
to determine appropriate classification and declassification levels to comply 
with established national security, other governmental requirements, and the 
National Industrial Security Program.
       
      Develop, guide, and refine classification and declassification 
recommendations based on extensive coordination with scientific and technical 
experts to identify, analyze, and evaluate the risk of loss associated with 
sensitive and classified information.
       
      Provide expert recommendations and direction to the development of 
classification guides and directives related to document marking, safeguarding, 
access, transmitting, receiving, copying, up/downgrading and destroying 
sensitive and classified information.
       
      Coordinate with other security specialists within a multiagency 
environment to achieve maximum effectiveness in consistently applying 
guidelines to meet national security requirements.
       
      Conduct briefings; and develop, administer, and provide training to 
enhance the effectiveness of information security.   
       
      OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
       
      Perform other related duties as necessary to accomplish the agency 
mission and security related responsibilities.
     
        
      Job Qualifications:  
      Bachelor's in Science, Arts, Public Administration, Industrial Security, 
Criminal Justice or related discipline and at least nine years of job related 
experience. Directly related experience performing duties as described may 
substitute for the educational requirement. Must have knowledge of governing 
Executive Order #12958, as amended and #12829, as amended; Director of Central 
Intelligence Directives (DCIDs), Department of Justice (DOJ) Security Orders, 
Manual of Investigative Operations and Guidelines (MIOG), Manual of 
Administrative Operations and Procedures (MAOP), Security Program Manual (SPM), 
National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM), Intelligence 
Community, DOJ and FBI regulations and instructions affecting the safeguarding 
of National Security Information. Must have knowledge of administrative 
regulations and sanctions that apply to violations or non-compliance with 
security regulations. Must be able to analyze various types of materials, such 
as  investigative reports, to develop information regarding information 
security vulnerabilities. Must have the ability to deal effectively with 
others. Oral and written communications skills to conduct information security 
briefings and prepare written communications required. Must have knowledge of 
security classification policies for classifying, declassifying and 
safeguarding national security information. Must have experience developing, 
evaluating, and maintaining policies, devices, procedures, and methods used for 
safeguarding information and materials. Must have experience developing and 
implementing policies and procedures for appropriate classification levels of 
information and "need to know" standards for government employees/contractors 
to be granted access to classified or other sensitive information materials, or 
work sites. Must be able to pass FBI security background investigation; and, to 
maintain Top Secret security clearance. Current TS required. SCI preferred.
