Here is a search that had been closed a couple of months ago and is now
re-opened and changed somewhat. This is for a major multi-billion dollar
client of mine out of Dallas for their operation near Baltimore. Please send
this out as soon as you can. The base salary is lower than you usually deal
with however with the 25-50% performance bonus it does get well over the $100 K
mark.

This is an opportunity for a Manufacturing Manger to make a move to a $ 2
Billion multi-national OEM which is corporately located in Dallas, Texas. This
position is for their facility located in Baltimore. They manufacture precision
and highly engineered products (Pumps) for their customers
internationally--THIS IS A CONFIDENTIAL SEARCH AND THE NAME OF THE COMPANY CAN
NOT BE REVEALED UNTIL AN INTERVIEW IS ESTABLISHED.
This client uses steel in the making of their precision products and thus wants
candidates from a manufacturing environment where they have made products out
of METAL and have experience working with Union and Non-Union workers and
multi/split shifts.

Responsibilities:
* Plans, organizes, directs and controls the activities of the shop functions
for the Plant.
* Supervises the entire operations group of 5 direct reports and 90 employees
in the organization
* Reviews and approves plans for the control of outputs, budget spending, labor
efficiency, material, manufacturing engineering, inventory levels and material
purchases
* Presents monthly reports on performance as requested by the director of
operations
* Reviews and approves cost control reports, cost estimates and staffing and
facilities requirements and forecasts
* Reviews and approves the setting of budgets including expense and capital
spending
* Develops, recommends and approves the implementation of manufacturing and
organizational plans to support the operations
* Establishes objectives and procedures governing the performance of staff and
develops annual objectives with subordinates to assure full support of
operations goals and master plans
* Identifies training needs for all subordinates
* Ensures all activities of the operations department are conducted in full
compliance with all federal, state and local laws and statutes
Requires The Ability To:
* Exercise creative problem solving and strong independent decision-making in
carrying out responsibilities of the position
* Manage all activities of the area within approved budgeted guidelines
* Establish and maintain open lines of communication within the team and
throughout other levels of the organization
* Motivate, train, and develop subordinates to optimize their performance and
their personal growth
* Exercise independent decision making to resolve a wide variety of problems in
the candidate's area of responsibility
Requirements:
* BS in Engineering/Quality
* MBA would be a PLUS
* 5-10 years of manufacturing experience
* 5 yrs of the experience needs to be in precision engineering with steel
* Knowledge of material management, systems and processes
* Organizational development and leadership skills
MUST HAVE ALL OF THE FOLLOWING:
* Exposure to 6 Sigma and/or Lean Manufacturing
* Good problem solving skills
* Must have managed a group of hourly manufacturing employees of at least 30
fte in a heavy manufacturing environment (making products out of steel or iron
or some other type of metal); Must have had this responsibility for at least
TWO (2) YEARS
* Must have at least SEVEN (7) YEARS of exempt level manufacturing experience
* No work history of any length with Allied Signal or Honeywell
* Can't currently work for Washington Group of EMC
* Experience in running a 2 shift operation
