[jsfg_cinti] Fw: LensCrafters Cycle of Sight School Screenings

Hello everyone,

I have been in contact with Dan Amann on this last week...Below is a
volunteer opportunity in which some of you may be interested in
participating...now don't hit that delete button just yet. I met this
gentleman, Scott Stoelting, at a GCCC function last week, and if you know
anything about how awesome some of the programs are at LensCrafters, this is
just an example of one of them. He may not end up needing any help, because
he may be able to cover his needs with his own employees. LensCrafters last
year covered 50 Cincinnati Public Schools and now the city of Cincy is
asking them to cover 78 schools, a number in which Scott doesn't know for
sure he can handle.

This could be a great opportunity to get involved from an altruistic
standpoint to be sure. But this would also be a special opportunity if you
are interested in Lenscrafters as a target company. Scott let me know that
he would be able to give us an idea of his need the ladder part of this
week. If he needs help, I asked if he would come to next Monday's meeting
to provide the details of this effort...again an unusual opportunity for
JSFG to build relationships with one of Cincinnati's great companies...all
and all I see it as a win,win for all. Please read the details below and
just reply to my email ONLY as follows: trudster@xxxxxxxx so as not to clog
up the list server pipeline.

Thanks in advance for your consideration of this great opportunity.

Trudi

>
> October 7 - 18 LensCrafters associates and some of our vendors go to
> Cincinnati Public Schools, Charter, St. Bernard and Northern KY schools
> and conduct preliminary eye screenings. Screenings are with K, 1st,
> 3rd,5th, 7th and 9th grades. The screenings help determine if a child
> is having problems seeing the board which can also be seen as learning
> or behavior problems in the classroom. The kids then receive full eye
> exams at their own doctors, at Children's Hospital Clinics in November
> or on our LensCrafters Vision Van and free eyeglasses are then provided
> to those who need them.
> This is an important task that helps so many of our inner city kids be
> able to see and succeed in school, rather than fail and drop out. The
> screenings take approximately 1/2 day everyday between Oct 7-18. A one
> hour training session will be provided.
> We are recruiting LensCrafters volunteers through Sept 30. Should we
> need additional volunteers, Mitch Spring, our Cycle of Sight executive
> leader will contact you and provide further information.
