Centennial Inc. has been engaged by one of our strong local corporate client 
relationships to identify and recruit for their highly visible and leadership 
role of SEC Reporting - Assistant Controller in their fast paced and dynamic 
organization. 
 
Reporting to the Vice President-Controller this critical position is 
responsible for ensuring all corporate and consolidated accounting functions 
for this publically traded company are executed accurately, completely, and 
efficiently in accordance with applicable financial accounting requirements 
(GAAP and SEC).
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

1)       Responsible for ensuring accounting is in compliance with GAAP for 
holding company as well as all operating subsidiaries. 

2)       Responsible for monthly closing cycle as well as monthly, quarterly 
and annual reporting in accordance with GAAP, SEC rules (Form 10Q?s, Form 
10K?s, & Form 11K's), including Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow 
Statements, Shareholder's Equity Statements,  Footnotes, and Management's 
Discussion and Analysis of Operations (MD&A). 

3)       Keeping current on all accounting pronouncements and rules from the 
FASB, SEC and Public Accounting Oversight Board in order to evaluate and 
communicate impact or alternatives for the Company. 

4)       Communicate, written and orally, the financial results of the Company 
to all levels of employees including the Senior Executives and peers. 

5)       Develop good working relationship with controllers and accounting 
personnel at all subsidiaries to ensure open communications for proactive 
identification of issues. 

6)       Establish and communicate accounting policies for the Company. 

7)       Manage relationship with external auditors ?bring issues to closure 
regarding accounting treatment and disclosure requirements. 

8)       Manage relationship with Actuaries for proper accounting for all 
pension and other post-retirement benefit plans. 

9)       Manage relationship with Human Resources to ensure open communication 
in order to be proactive in managing compensation issues. 

10)   Prepare financial and fluctuation analysis of actual operating results, 
balance sheet and cash flow results to prior periods and plan. 

11)   Responsible for company-wide allocation of pension expenses, corporate 
overhead expenses and health care expenses. 

12)   Provides assistance with merger, acquisition and divestiture transactions 
as necessary. 

13)   Supervises other management employee(s)



Qualifications and Requirements: 

  1.. LOCAL candidates highly preferred (some relocation assistance available) 
  2.. Minimum of four years of college resulting in Bachelor?s Degree in 
Accounting or related degree 
  3.. MBA HIGHLY DESIRED and advantageous 
  4.. Active CPA certification REQUIRED 
  5.. Minimum of 8-15 years of experience in Accounting and/or public 
accounting 
1)       Demonstrated experience in financial statement preparation and 
analysis. 

2)       Demonstrated experience in general accounting or auditing with SEC 
experience. 

3)       Demonstrated success in communication and problem-solving. 

4)       Big 4 experience - (i. e., PWC, E&Y, Deloitte, KPMG) HIGHLY DESIRED 

  6.. Special Knowledge - Skills- Abilities 
1)       Position requires comprehensive knowledge of accounting procedures, 
internal control procedures, GAAP, the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, and SEC reporting 
requirements. 

2)       Strong analytical skills.

3)       PC skills, including Microsoft Office products. 

4)       Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to 
manage a number of projects and personnel at one time.

  7.. Position provides support, leadership and development to corporate 
accounting staff. Interacts with appropriate departments and subsidiaries to 
meet company objectives. 
  8.. Effectively communicates objectives and results to appropriate personnel 
to allow timely release of financial data, both internally and externally.
