Yes, we are actually hiring in these economic times! Please
forward this to anyone that you think might be interested or anyone that might
know of someone that is interested.
As many of you know, last year I started working at AssureRx, a
personalized medicine company specializing in the field of pharmacogenetics. We
are in the process of building our own genotyping lab and have an immediate
opening for a Lab Director. This person will be asked to develop and direct our
clinical molecular genetics laboratory. Experience with obtaining
CLIA-certification and as a CLIA-certified laboratory director is preferred.
The laboratory will be designed to perform genotyping on those
genes considered relevant to our pharmacogenetic model. Methods would likely
exclusively include Single Nucleotide Polymorphism assays and gel
electrophoresis, along with appropriate amplification of target regions.
Summary: Develop and direct a CLIA certified clinical molecular
genetics laboratory. Supervise laboratory personnel and maintain regulatory
compliance.
Responsibilities:
1) Supervise the development of molecular genetic tests,
specifically single nucleotide polymorphism assays, gel electrophoresis and
polymerase chain reaction, for genotype determination.
2) Develop and implement a plan to obtain CLIA certification for
genotyping laboratory.
3) Maintain regulatory compliance, including test protocols,
quality assurance and record keeping.
4) Supervise laboratory personnel performing genotyping on
patient samples.
5) Verify and approve laboratory testing results.
6) Supervise the development of new tests for genetic
polymorphisms in genes considered relevant to pharmacogenetics.
Preferred Qualifications:
1) MD or PhD with a background in molecular studies, preferably
molecular genetics.
2) Two or more years of experience in the direction of a clinical
laboratory.
3) Experience with obtaining CLIA certification; preferably
current or previous experience as a CLIA certified laboratory director.
4) Ability to manage technicians/technologists in a laboratory
setting.
