. Responsible for Employee Services in four buildings
(Payroll/Compensation; Recruiting/Staffing; Benefits; Learning & Development)
. Will receive cross-functional training in Employee Relations with
expectation that Employee Services Mgr. and Employee Relations Mgr. will
provide cross-functional support
. 2 ½ direct reports (HR Coordinators and Learning &Development
Coordinator) with dotted line to HR Generalists
. Change management experience is preferred in order to successfully

JOB DESCRIPTION GENERAL SUMMARY: Responsible for developing policy and
directing and coordinating human resources activities such as employment,
compensation, employee relations, benefits, training, and employee services.
Acts as corporate liaison for HR related projects and functions that affect the
distribution division.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Working Relationships / Communication
. Partners with DC Management to identify and prepare staffing
forecast and ensure staffing needs and appropriate training is afforded.
. Acts as a corporate liaison for HR related projects and functions
that affect the distribution division. Represents distribution viewpoint in
projects and policy meetings. Communicates the effect of resulting changes to
the division.
. Consults legal counsel to interpret policies and procedures to
ensure DC's management teams are consistent with disciplinary action and
overall decision making particularly in areas where state or international
regulations provide distinct guidelines.
. Writes and delivers presentations to DC Management, employees,
corporate officers, and/or government officials regarding human resources
policies and practices.
. Stays abreast of all changing employment and regulatory information
and communicates these changes to division personnel. Develops strategies /
tactics for division to address these changes.
2. Strategic Initiatives
. Assists DC's in developing sound employee relations practices.
Ensures that proper investigations are completed when complaints surface.
. Analyzes wage and benefits surveys and data to determine
competitive compensation plan. Makes an annual recommendation to adjust
current wage and benefit structure.
. Determines training needs and develops a training plan that
supports the culture and philosophy of the division.
. Evaluates and redesigns when necessary, plans, processes, and
policies for worker's compensation, safety, risk management, and benefits.
. Develops budget and monitors expenses to ensure adherence to
monetary guidelines.
. Develops and maintains a human resources system that meets top
management information needs.
ORGANIZATION RELATIONSHIPS: Works closely with all domestic and/or
international DC management. Interfaces regularly with HR Specialists at
headquarters and HR Generalists within each brand. Maintains open
communications with all support departments to include legal, MIS and
Finance/Payroll.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1) Knowledge, skills & abilities:
. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral; excellent
presentation skills.
. Strong interpersonal and human relation skill.
. Strong ability to manage multiple tasks with confidence.
. Leadership, employee development and motivational abilities.
. Planning, decision making, negotiating and political savvy.
. Organizational and Strategic Agility skills.
2) Minimum educational level:
. Bachelor of Science in Management, Human Resources, Labor
Relations, or related field.
. SPHR or PHR preferred.
3) Minimum experience:
. Minimum of 10 years progressive HR generalist experience,
preferably in distribution.
. Employee relations and employment law experienced required.
. Previous experience managing a Human Resource department.
