 We are looking for a  Certified Software Quality Engineer to do consulting
 in Nov and Dec in the midwest but not Illinois.  Can you post this for the

 Software Verification and Validation Consultant Statement of Work
 A client desires assistance from a professional consultant who can provide
 guidance and oversight in the field of Software Verification and Validation
 (V&V). Generally this is the function of a Certified Software Quality
 Engineer (CSQE). This is expected to involve an intermittent effort by the
 consultant over the period of Nov-Dec 2003.
  Instrument Description
 An instrument system exists in pre-production prototype form and already
 contains sufficient software to enable the proper operation of the various
 functions involved and statistical manipulation/ display of the results.
 This is a 6-axis robotic system for use in hospital laboratories, and it is
 required to meet FDA requirements for a Class I device. As an 'in vitro'
 diagnostic product, and does not interface directly with patients.

 Broadly, the software may be considered in terms of the following major
elements:
   User Interface, Operation -     User Interface, Maintenance
   Fill Level Control  -    Solenoid Control
   I/O system  -    Axes Control
   TEC Control -    Heater Control
   Automatic Error Recovery  -    User Error Recovery

 During the V&V process we expect to develop a series of validation cases to
 address the safety, effectiveness and reliability of each function of the
 software, when it is used in the system's typical working environment.
 Validation cases will address the software itself, as well as any ancillary
 software-specific documentation. Among the aspects of software to be
 considered are possible failure modes; assessment of risks and their
 severity; the statistical probability of random failure. The work of the
 consultant will involve provision of guidance and oversight during the
 formulation of the process documentation, development of test protocols,
and
 reporting of test results.
