Dear Members,

I have a client in Cincinnati who is looking for an individual to take over
responsibility for their IT function. They have no dedicated staff today so
this individual will be their first dedicated IT professional. They may add
more staff in the future.

The client's culture is a typical small company without a lot of corporate
structure. They were started in the 1930's and are privately owned. They
are a major player in a small industry; their business is growing and
constantly changing and so broader responsibilities will likely occur if the
individual does well. A career at this client is what you make it but
without corporate infrastructure to get in the way. "Do your job but look
for things to be done", was one statement we heard describing the corporate
culture.

They require a self-starter who does not need a lot of oversight and
supervision. They also do not want a freelance code writer who is enamored
with technology but they do want someone who can program and can write Excel
macros. The individual needs to help set the priorities and take care of
maintenance of the various systems. Managing the network would be a big
help but is not considered a main requirement.

They have a current ERP-type system being replaced and Go-live is expected
in the next few months. Familiarity with data base technology (Progress
probably?) for queries, etc. is a strong desirable but this is not a major
emphasis. Knowledge of the ERP (a third tier package) is not necessary at
this time.

Major responsibilities of this position are:

1. Programming - Have knowledge of Excel, VB & Basic with macros.

a. They have several macro-oriented, excel spreadsheets to do product
configuration, prepare field lists for the field, production plans and
material requirements. They have lots of standard templates and drawings -
is Autocad an opportunity here? They also use Excel for shop production,
quotes and estimating.

2. Need to have a capability to manage their website - both develop &
maintain. This requires HTML and maybe XML knowledge.

a. Someone knowledgeable of web page creation and portal technology could
help them figure out new ways to make themh a better company and use
technology as a competitive advantage.

3. Ability to manage the networks including servers, email accounts, desktop
units, related software and hardware. Do not have to be a network guru.
Network is between Cinti, San Diego, Monterrey, Alexandria, and Shanghai.
Need to be able to trouble shoot problems and work with vendors.

Perfect candidate would have Network knowledge, Excel & VB, Autocad
familiarity, experienced and interested in programming. Also knowledge of
other current technologies would be helpful. Knowledge of manufacturing is
a strong area of need : BOM (bill of material) such as material requirements
and routing knowledge/experience. A Senior programmer who can develop
requirements and specs for programming, then program it. At the higher end
an independent worker who is a self-starter.

Has a standard benefits package (401K, dental, health insurance and vacation
(2 to 3 weeks)).
No relocation paid.

If you are interested or know of someone please contact me at the office
below. I have more details about this position.

Thanks to everyone for taking the time to read this email.
