OHIO JOBLESS WORKERS:

We need your help to convince Ohio Senators George Voinovich and Mike
DeWine to increase their involvement in the fight to restore federal
jobless benefits.

Over the next we are going to organize a quick-hitting targeted campaign
to pressure Senators Voinovich and DeWine to use their influence to
convince the President and Congressional leadership. With bi-partisan
votes already in favor of the extension, the lack of support from the
President and the leaders of Congress is all that?s blocking a quick
re-activation of federal jobless benefits.

As fellow Republicans, Senators Voinovich and DeWine are well-positioned
to influence these leaders. With your help, we convinced Senator
Voinovich and DeWine to vote ?yes? for the extension on February 27th.
With benefits still not paid out a month later, we hope to convince them
to go the extra mile needed to bring the benefits home.

The campaign will have three steps:

1. A public open letter from Ohio jobless workers to Senator Voinovich
and DeWine regarding the extension. You can add your name by signing the
letter at
 <http://action.nelp.org/ctt.asp?u=2160924&l=24130>
http://www.unemployedworkers.org/extend_jobless_benefits/ohiosenltr.cfm

2. A push early next week with Ohio media (newspapers and T.V.) to
increase coverage of the hardships facing jobless workers and Senators
Voinovich and DeWine?s roles in the issue.

3. A coordinated call-in day by jobless workers to Senator Voinovich and
DeWine?s offices ? next Tuesday 3/30 or Wednesday 3/31, to reinforce the
letter. You?d be surprised by the impact that even 25-50 coordinated
calls can make on a Senate office.

We need your help to succeed with this effort!
- Add your name and personalized comments to the letter by Sunday, March
28th.
- Forward this e-mail to other jobless colleagues or friends you know.
Look for an action alert on Friday or Monday about the call-in day.
- Reply to this e-mail if you?d be willing to speak with reporters about
your situation.

We?ve come a long way in bringing the issue of federal jobless benefits
back on the table, but we need your help to put us over the top.

Sincerely,

Andrew Stettner, National Employment Law Project
