ALL:
Please read below in regard to the continuing struggle to make sure our
"representatives" understand the real world situation of continued high
unemployment.
Please make calls and write to your senators as soon as possible.
Remind them that you are watching along with millions of others and
their support or lack of it will affect your political support come
election time.

Unemployedworkers.org Update February 24th
Many folks have e-mailed us asking for an updated on the federal
extension of unemployment benefits.
TOMORROW February 25th, Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA) plans to make a
unamimous consent request in the U.S. Senate asking for the
re-activation of TEUC benefits. Tune in to CSPAN-2 at approximately
1:30pm eastern time to watch the debate. If a single Senator objects
the motion will be defeated.
Even if the motion is defeated (which is likely to happen), this gets
the ball rolling again in the Senate - which is where activity needs to
take place next. Friends of the unemployed are still pushing and
strategizing about how to get a Senate vote on whether to reactivate
benefits. For now, the best thing to do is to continue contacting your
U.S. Senator. You can find his or her address by visiting

have everyone who reads your column continue to daily contact their
representatives and maybe we'll together have a voice that will be able
to push this extension through before we all lose our homes!"
