Splicer - OSP Maintenance
 
Primary Duties
 
*       Analyzing repair and maintenance problems. 
*       Using various tools and test equipment to perform maintenance
and repair activities. 
*       Working cable work orders. 
*       Working proactive maintenance work items. 
*       Clearing cable pairs for service orders. 
*       May be required to complete service orders when clearing a cable
pair. 
*       May require working on cable pressure repair. 
*       Working on cable spans and transport equipment of outside plant
facilities. 
*       May be required to cross-train others.
 

Experience / Background

 
*       Demonstrated experience in cable repair splicing and cable test
equipment analysis. 
*       Demonstrated experience in cable pressure repair. 
*       Demonstrated experience working cable work orders. 
*       Demonstrated experience with installation and repair on customer
premises. 
*       Demonstrated experience in a customer contact position. 
*       Demonstrated experience with Switch, Transport Repair and
Maintenance. 
*       Associate Degree in a technical related field would be
beneficial.
 

Prerequisites

 
*       Technical Education Program - Level I. 
*       Company driver's license. 
*       Pole Climbing. 
*       Physical requirements:  Medical; ability to lift heavy loads up
to 125 pounds. 
*       Safety Requirements:  Safety shoes;  Weight Restriction Policy
applies. 
*       Satisfactory performance rating. 
*       Satisfactory attendance record for last twelve months.
 

Work Environment

 
*       Work location:  various 
*       Normal tour of 8 hours.  Facility will be open 24 hours per day,
requires day, evening or night tours, overtime, emergency callouts,
weekends and holidays. 
*       Works outside in all kinds of weather. 
*       May be working for long periods of time in confined areas such
as manholes and crawl spaces. 
*       May work in greasy, dirty or muddy surroundings. 
*       May work aloft on poles, hydraulic lift bucket, splicing
platforms or ladders.
