Examples of Duties Performed:
This list of duties is not exhaustive, and duties may be added, deleted
or changed at any time without notice.
1. The producer will create, lead and organize content for multiple
media platforms utilizing strong editorial, journalistic, organizational
and communication skills.
2. Develop and organize newscasts; responsible for writing, story
development and showcasing.
3. Works closely with news managers, assignment editors and
associate producers to determine content needs.
4. Enhance content of rundown with graphics, video, research, and
station branding.
5. Execute time sensitive decisions.
6. Write clearly for multiple platforms.
7. Knowledge and demonstration of creativity, editorial judgment,
journalistic ethics and libel laws.
8. Responsible for oversight of live broadcast and up to the minute
editorial decisions.
9. Edit video for multiple platforms.
10. Post content to station's Web sites.
11. Perform other duties as directed by the News Director and other
News managers.
Requirements:
Education: BS/BA in related discipline.
Experience: Generally 2-5 years of experience in journalism
or a related field.
Must be proficient in all Microsoft
Office standard programs.
Skills/Abilities: Must work well in challenging situations;
self-motivated; adaptable to changing schedules; work well with news
personnel and other departments within the TV station. Must be
consistently diplomatic when dealing with the public. Must have strong
writing skills and keen editorial judgment. Knowledge of newsroom
computer systems required. Knowledge of non-linear editing systems
required.
