JOB DUTIES: Collaborates and provides leadership in the implementation of
the
American Diploma Project, a leading initiative of the Ohio Partnership for
Continued
Learning, including the development and communication/marketing of
expectations
for college readiness to various audiences (students, parents, teachers,
higher
education and other members of the educational community, business, etc.).
Provides
support in developing and identifying a consistent statewide approach for
the
placement of students in college courses. Initiates and coordinates efforts
to develop
the expectations for college readiness and gain feedback from a wide range
of
audiences. Collaborates closely with other agencies including the Governor?s
Office,
Ohio Department of Education and higher education partners on P-16
initiatives and
other efforts to improve access to college, enhance academic preparation of
students,
and provide leadership for policy development and implementation efforts to
improve
teacher/educator preparation and professional development. Provides support
for
teacher education improvement efforts.
MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE COMPENTANCIES: Masters degree in a related field
required.
Exceptional oral and written communication skills (writing sample required).
Knowledge of state and federal initiatives to improve access to college,
enhance
relationships between secondary and higher education, to improve
teacher/educator
preparation helpful. Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to
work at
complex tasks and with a variety of people. Ability to be organized,
flexible and
attentive to detail. Experience and understanding of both K-12 and higher
education
environments and proven ability to work effectively in both. Computer skills
required.
