Franklin Development Corporation (FDC)
Summary:
Direct, coordinate, and facilitate the partnering of diverse public and
private entities in the creation of a new non-profit entity (Franklin
Development Corporation), in Franklin, Indiana. Under direction of the
Franklin Development Corporation's Board of Directors, the Chief
Executive Officer will proactively address challenging and complex
issues, with the sole mission of community betterment. The goal of the
CEO is to focus on flood impact mitigation (both residential
rehabilitation and commercial development) through the use of
low-interest loan programs, assist in the implementation of the
community's shared economic development plans through consulting, grant
applications, and where appropriate, direct investment.
Responsibilities Include:
1. Provide leadership, consensus building and facilitation in the
development of the organization's statement of vision, mission, and
goals, and the corresponding strategies, plans, and budgets to achieve
them;
2. Ensure the development of priority plans, performance
measurements, management controls, and critical success factors;
3. Review approved plans and budgets as part of the annual planning
and budgeting cycle and present recommendations to the board and/or the
appropriate committee;
4. Develop and provide appropriate policy recommendations for
consideration by the board;
5. Ensure that an annual plan and budget are prepared for and
presented to the board;
6. Propose agendas for the board reflecting issues, opportunities,
and priorities;
7. Present written reports as requested by the Board of Directors;
8. Promote collaboration with and among the organization's
geographic sub-units to address the needs of members and the mission and
goals of the organization;
9. Maintain the necessary contacts to keep abreast of emerging
issues of significance to the organization;
10. Represent the organization to relevant entities throughout the
community
11. Deal effectively with various bureaucracies, including banks and
the SBA. .
12. Develop and maintain an effective staff organization which provides
appropriate policy and program recommendations for consideration by the
board and its committees, and which delivers services, programs and
information beneficial to the members;
Qualifications & Personal Characteristics:
This position requires a high degree of self initiative and demonstrated
ability to: build consensus within diverse organizations, develop
methods to achieve desired results, facilitate win/win activities, and
work with limited supervision, following broad objectives. The CEO will
be a recognized Leader, Visionary /Information Bearer, Decision Maker,
and Manager. Technical skills of the CEO include proficiency in using
computer hardware and software such as: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access,
in addition to utilizing finance, statistical, research and databases
tools.
Background, Experience, Education (Preferred):
Prior experience (examples of job titles) as a EDC Planner, Urban
Planner, Senior Manager, CFO or CEO, City Attorney, Chamber of Commerce
Executive, Banker, Accountant, Grant Writer for non profit or for profit
organization Master's degree or equivalent; with four to ten years
related experience.
Travel:
Travel will be limited to Johnson County area, with infrequent travel as
directed by the FDC Board
Annual Salary & Employee Benefits:
Salary - Annual salary of $80,000+/-, depending on experience and
qualifications.
Benefits - Financial supplementation of competitive employee benefits
will be offered.
