[jsfg_cinti] EverNote Portable - useful software tool for job hunting and other 'information research' - available for free today only

Hello All,


Previously I mentioned the Giveaway Of The Day (GAOTD or GOTD) web site
where they occasionally have some exceptionally nice commercial software
offered for free (for 24 hours) from time to time.

Today is one of those times.  It's called EverNote Portable which installs
on a USB memory stick (or "FLASH key drive") and can then be used on any PC
(with a working USB port) to grab and organize information of all sorts as
you browse, etc., without leaving traces on the computer you're using at the
time.  Should be great for job hunting and other uses:

I usually wait until the evening before looking over what's being offered
each day (Windows Task Scheduler is set to pop it up automatically so I
don't forget to check).  That way I can read lots of other people's comments
about features, problems and suggestions of freeware alternatives before
deciding whether to download and install whatever it happens to be.
However, by then it's usually too late for me to send out a notification
mailing.

But for the first time I'm aware of it's apparently going to be offered for
a 2nd day in a row, giving me a chance to alert you about it.

GAOTD previously gave away the powerful "desktop" version of EverNote which
has even more features (but is not portable, of course).  Look over their
other recent giveaways (start on the home page) to see if they had anything
else of interest to you.  You might find you'll want to start keeping an eye
on it and pick up some good stuff when free!


Don't have a USB FLASH memory key drive yet?  Get one -- they're pretty
cheap on sale these days ($15 for 1GB is getting common), and very useful
for keeping an electronic copy of your resume to print, letters, web browser
links, and other stuff handy.  Once you use one, even if to simply store
files (very easy), you'll not want to be without one in your pocket all the
time.
