The City of Cincinnati is seeking to fill an Environmental Safety
Specialist (Internal Environmental Compliance Specialist) position with
the Office of Environmental Quality. The Office of Environmental Quality
(OEQ) is committed to leading Cincinnati City Government and the larger
community toward sustainability and the practice of good environmental
stewardship.  This employee will perform a variety of activities as they
relate to the environment and/or employee safety aspects of the City of
Cincinnati's internal environmental compliance program; perform
inspections, investigations and evaluations of moderately complex
operations and facilities for the enforcement of environmental and/or
employee health and safety provisions of federal, state and local laws,
codes and regulations.
 
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED
 
*        Provide both professional and technical work relating to
regulatory programs and environmental monitoring; and other projects as
they relate to achieving and sustaining compliance with laws,
regulations and permits.
 
*        Perform environmental audits focusing on identifying
opportunities for improvement in regulatory compliance and
implementation of environmental best management practices.
*        Provide support to the audited facilities to ensure that
recommended improvements can be successfully implemented. 
*        Performs a variety of functions including research and analysis
of programs; monitor contracts; budget analysis and performs related
duties as required. Under general supervision of the Director of the
Office of Environmental Quality.

QUALIFICATIONS
All applicants must have a Bachelors degree in the following course
areas from an accredited college or university:  Environmental Studies;
Environmental Sciences; Environmental Engineering; Waste Management; or
closely related field. In addition, three years of progressively
responsible experience directly related to integrated solid waste
management, pollution prevention, environmental compliance, resource
conservation, waste reduction, recycling, and source reduction is
preferred. All required experience must have occurred within the last
(5) five years. You are required to show your valid driver's license to
the Human Resources Department staff NO LATER THAN THE DEADLINE DATE FOR
FILING APPLICATIONS.  Must be a Hamilton County resident at the time of
appointment
