[jsfg_cinti] Election of JSFG Officers

Message to all active members of Job Search Focus Group:

As will be announced at the Monday (October 17, 2005) members meeting, in
consultation with Dennis Bock, Chair of the Nominations Committee, I have
extended the period for all interested active members of jsfg to submit their
names as nominees for particular officer positions. The nomination period is
extended until 5pm, Friday, October 21. Nominees standing for election will
be
announced at the Monday members meeting scheduled for October 24, 2005. The
election of officers will be held at the members meeting on Monday, October
31, 2005.

I have been asked by a number of different people and organizations to
clarify who is or is not a jsfg member. Simply put, an individual (natural
person)
is eligible for jsfg membership if he (or she) has completed Orientation,
is actively seeking new employment and who demonstrates an ongoing interest in
using jsfg resources to assist their job search. JSFG members may be
unemployed, employed temporarily, part-time employed or even full-time
employed.
Additional criteria for determining whether an individual is a jsfg members
would include the following: (i) that the individual has announced to jsfg
members at a general members meeting that they are actively seeking new
employment (or want to redirect their careers even if the new job target is
still
to be discovered); (ii )that the individual has participated (as a job seeker)
in a jsfg-sponsored activity or meeting  aimed at helping one's job search;
and (iii) the individual has paid dues and is otherwise in good standing.
There are no other member categories.
While we expect to build and deepen our relationships with entities (such as
ProTrain), various career speakers, consultants, coaches, program speakers,
workshop and training teachers, jsfg regards these generous entities and
individuals as good friends and awesome donors to the jsfg mission. There are
no special member categories, just the one class of active, dues-paying,
job-seeking members. While jsfg will have just one
membership class, I am not foreclosing the possibility that the jsfg
Steering Committee may create other formal affiliation groups in recognition
of
sponsor, alumni, employers, personnel firms, retirees and the like at some
point in the future.

Some of you may already know this, but to dispel any possible confusion, I
will not be running for election to another term. I have treasured the
opportunity to serve and lead jsfg, but it's time for a change of leadership.
Also,
it's looking likely I'll be able to announce my graduation in the coming few
weeks (birds are still in bushes, none in my hand).

At present, we have nominations for the secretary and the treasurer
positions. No one has come forward to be nominees for president and the other
top two
elected positions.
We have a talented group of jsfg members. I know many of you want this
organization to continue to improve in assisting job seekers to become highly
equipped and connected. And jsfg wants to also be the effective catalyst
between
members and their imminent employers.

Continuous improvement of jsfg so it can meet the expectations of its member
can and will happen. We need just a few good men and women from our member
ranks who are willing to step forward and be counted on to make a positive
difference. Many of you are already leaders. You have the vision, the skills
and
the passion. Share your gifts with jsfg. There are many important
initiatives underway in jsfg. We need capable hands at the wheel to steer
those
initiatives to their home port of actualization. We are a self-help
organization
and we have many hands to assist in the work, but we need leaders foremost.
Thanks for your attention and commitment.

Blessings to us all,

Uldis (Odie) Kordons
President, Job Search Focus Group
