Do you have a pension that was rescued by PBGC ? Pension Benefit Guaranty
Corporation?
If you have a PBGC Pension and you are over 55,
You may be eligible for Healthcare Insurance at a reduced cost.
Your COBRA benefits may be extended until 12/31/2010.
If you don?t have COBRA you may be eligible for medical insurance through
TAA until you are 65.
HCTC Health Care Tax Credit may pay for 80% of your COBRA or TAA medical
insurance cost.
There are more rules and requirements but if you are eligible for a PBGC
pension you should find out for yourself about these benefits. Follow the
leads below and you can figure it out.
Where do I read more about this?
In Section 1899F of Division B, Title I, Subtitle I, Part VI, ARRA provides
for an extension of COBRA benefits to PBGC (Pension Benefit Guaranty
Corporation) recipients. This provision basically allows people falling
into this category to receive lifetime COBRA benefits, although currently
not to extend beyond December 31, 2010. This section of ARRA is well
documented at many sources:
