Compensation Analyst
POSITION SUMMARY:

Administer and develop various components to Kroger's enterprise-wide 
compensation programs. Provide support to division Human Resources leaders on 
compensation-related issues. Ensure the integrity of compensation-related data 
in ExpressHuman Resources system. 




ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Compensation - 80%

  a.. Complete compensation surveys based on established survey schedule to 
build a survey library; ensure correct job matching and timely participation

  b.. Market price jobs for annual compensation planning, special projects and 
ad hoc requests

  c.. Provide market data to assist with the compensation studies, division 
requests, evaluation of job levels, etc.

  d.. Lead or participate in special compensation projects (e.g., department 
market pricing, job profile project)

  e.. Respond to general questions/data needs from division Human Resources 
leaders or department heads, following established compensation guidelines and 
policies

  f.. Prepare downloads and spreadsheets used in annual compensation processes 
(e.g., compensation planning, annual grant, executive compensation, special 
projects and ad hoc analyses)




E-Human Resources Data Warehouse - 10%

  a.. Generate associate downloads for compensation analyses and spreadsheets, 
working with division Human Resources leaders and department heads to ensure 
data is accurate prior to application.

  b.. Conduct regular compensation audits to ensure internal equity and data 
integrity

  c.. Inform Compensation Manager of issues related to data integrity to ensure 
quality inputs for Manager Self Serve (MSS) and Employee Self Serve (ESS).




Management Reporting - 10%

  a.. Assist in the preparation of standard market analysis and other 
compensation-related reports for management presentations

  b.. Prepare special compensation reports upon request for compensation 
analyses, Human Resources management or senior management




POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  a.. Experience as a compensation analyst for 5 to 7 years

  b.. Experience with base pay; short-term bonus and executive compensation 

  c.. Advanced spreadsheet expertise (i.e., Excel) to prepare spreadsheets and 
analyze data

  d.. Working knowledge of Microsoft applications (e.g., Word, Excel, 
PowerPoint) and report writing applications (e.g., Business Objects)

  e.. Effective verbal, writing and interpersonal skills

  f.. Strong customer service focus

  g.. Excellent project management skills to meet deadlines and manage shifting 
priorities 

  h.. Excellent attention to detail to provide accurate and quality work 
products

  i.. Analytical skills to interpret data and identify relationships, trends 
and anomalies




DESIRED PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE:

  a.. Broad-based compensation administration, including market pricing, annual 
compensation planning cycle

  b.. Preparation of Excel spreadsheets using advanced formulas

  c.. Project management work that requires high-level accuracy and is deadline 
sensitive

  d.. Communication with managers about sensitive information and advising them 
on compensation actions
