Cincinnati Art Museum - Position Description
Position:  Assistant Director - Advertising and Promotion
Reports to:  Director of External Relations and Marketing

I.     Description
The Assistant Director - Advertising and Promotion coordinates the Museum's
media planning and buying, advertising development and production, and
promotions.  In this capacity, the Assistant Director - Advertising and
Promotion is responsible for planning and implementing such strategies under
the guidance of the Director of External Relations and Marketing and working
closely with staff members of the Marketing Division and other Museum
divisions.  The Assistant Director - Advertising and Promotion serves as an
account supervisor for the creation and implementation of integrated
marketing communications plans for various divisions and departments within
the Museum.  The Assistant Director - Advertising and Promotion manages the
work of outside consultants, vendors, nonpaid interns and volunteers.

II.     Requirements
B.A. in marketing, communications or related field.   At least three years
of marketing experience, preferably with an advertising agency or public
relations firm, with practical experience planning and buying media,
creating and implementing promotions and assisting in the strategic
development and production of creative.  Excellent written and verbal
communication skills as well as experience in marketing consumer
products/services to diverse audiences.

III.     Essential Duties and Responsibilities
A.     Works collaboratively with the Director of External Relations and
Marketing and other staff members of the Marketing Division.  Serves on the
Marketing Division's management team with the other Assistant Directors.
Works collaboratively with outside consultants and vendors, including
advertising agencies, at times managing their work and contracts.
    
B.     Serves as an account supervisor for the planning and implementation
of integrated marketing communications plans for various divisions and
departments within the Museum.  In this capacity, meets regularly with these
divisions and departments to identify goals and objectives and develop
strategic marketing plans to accomplish them.
    
C.     Handles all marketing of adult group tours working toward defined
revenue goals.

D.     Develops media plans, negotiates media buys and audits media buys.

E.     Develops innovative and collaborative promotions with various
community organizations to build awareness and interest for Museum's
exhibitions, programs and events.

F.     Plans and manages special events.

G.     Supervises and coordinates the work of nonpaid interns and
volunteers.
    
H.     Serves as a staff representative on various Museum committees.
    
I.     Represents the Museum to key external constituencies and works
collaboratively with other cultural, civic and educational organizations.
    
J.     Carries out other duties as assigned.
