Hello and a good day to all!
Well, folks, it's seems to have come back again like a dirty penny. How can I
get experience unless I get hired? I'm referring to hands-on exp working with
Sarbanes-Oxley, or SOX 404. You financial types (and maybe others) I'm sure,
know what I'm talking about. I just finished a phone interview with a local
public co. and one of the questions the HR lady asked was: have I had any SOX
experience? Well, I stumbled a little on answering, because I have basically
only read about Sarbanes-Oxley, which I don't think qualifies as hands-on
experience.Have had a short stint of working with it, but not that much, a few
days as a temp. So, I'm wondering: is there any way on this green Earth to get
actual hands-on experience working with SOX, other than by being hired by a Big
4 accounting firm or one that does public co. audits? Shadowing maybe? I would
even consider doing it for nothing (or very little) for a while to get the
experience. I just feel like if I could have gotten
some SOX experience under my belt previously, I could have had a job by now.
Any comments? Can someone help me on this, or suggest where I might get some
help please? I want to shout it out to the AICPA and OSCPA and every other
accountants' assn :"How can I get SOX experience?"
Thanks a heap!
Bill Matthews
