[jsfg_cinti] COBRA insurance coverage

Can anyone in JSFG answer my question or refer me to someone who might?
If I would change jobs (go from one employer to another), could I get COBRA
coverage (assuming that the new employer could not or would not offer me
medical insurance coverage), as my old employer is a COBRA employer? I
understand that the premiums an employer would have to pay to insure me would
be higher at my current age than they would be for a younger person, thus
making the younger person more likely to get hired.
I am thinking that if I could get COBRA coverage, I would be paying for my
own insurance and therefore the employer would be more likely to hire me. Plus,
I will be eligible for Medicare this year.
Am I being clear?
Thanks
Bill Matthews
