Executive Search Outlook Positive for remainder of 2003
A recent survey conducted by the Association of
Executive Search Consultants (AESC), the worldwide association for retained
executive search, revealed 78% of search firms were "generally positive"
about their executive search practice for the remainder of the year. Just
67% responded positively to the same question at the end of 2002. AESC
members in North America were the most optimistic about the outlook for the
industry, with 86% positive responses compared to 83% in the Asia/Pacific
region, 68% in Europe, and 64% in Latin America.

The Toughest 25 Questions That Executives Have Ever

How to Make Sourcing Calls Work For YOU
You may find it frustrating to find yourself on the
receiving end of a recruiters "source" call - a conversation designed to
unearth the names of other executives you know who may be suitable for a
particular position. However knowing how to use a source call to build a
relationship with a recruiter can have great pay off for you in the future.
Here are some key tips on relationship building from an upcoming book on
career management and executive search.
1.. Always help out the recruiter by providing
information requested - relationships are about give and take.
2.. If you mention names of other executives, you can
ask the recruiter not to use your name when the recruiter contacts them, if
you prefer to keep your involvement confidential.
3.. If you think of some information after the call is
done, do call back the recruiter and pass on the information.

Have Your Say - Resume Certification
In our last newsletter we asked: "Do you think that
having a professional verify your employment and education would give you an
advantage over other applicants for a position?" Opinions on this emerging
trend for executives to pre-verify the authenticity of their resume document
were varied:
I do not see any downside to this."
Michigan, United States
"Advanced certification could be useful here."
Middlesex, United Kingdom
"It may cover the rear end of a recruiter, but
accomplish very little other."
Massachusetts, United States
