I promised at today's JSFG meeting to post Andrea Kay's points from her talk
last week at the "55KRC Power Breakfast." She gave an excellent talk on the
meaning of work & life, and her one "to do" is to be more human. To accomplish
this she made 10 suggestions that should be helpful to all of us:
1. Admit you can't do everything.
2. Get clear what matters most to you.
3. Make sure your career reflects who you are.
4. Stop provign your loyalty to your company, & be loyal to yourself.
5. Get out of prison, ie stop believing you don't have any freedom.
6. You cannot multi-task.
7. Be master of your time.
8. Be master of your tools, especially computer technology.
9. Challenge your routine.
10. Keep in touch with yourself - ask yourself how you are doing.
Andrea Kay is a renowned local columnist, author and inspirational speaker. She
has been a regular at JSFG in the past, and has agreed to speak at our November
12, 2001 meeting. I hope you will come if you can.
Have a great week!
Alan Pickett
