Hi, An article from msn news has a paragraph that
answers question #2. The address is:
http://www.msnbc.com/news/665713.asp
I have also done contract work while on unemployment,
though for briefer periods of time.
My unemployment did stop when I worked, however 6
months of unemployment benefits was extended up to a
year. This was several years ago. Check it out with
the Unemployment Office. I also estimate my income
and pay estimated taxes quarterly for City, State and
Federal taxes as well as Social Security tax. A tax
preparer or CPA can give you the scoop on this. Also
your mileage, long distance phone expenses, are
deductable. there are other "business" expenses that
are deductible too.
