Fellow Job Seekers,

I am in need of some "quick" advice. I have (potentially) the opportunity to do some contracting work - anywhere from 6 to 9 months, maybe more guaranteed - but am "afraid" of accepting for a couple of reasons:

1. Since I would be considered a 1099 employee, I know I would have to cover all the sundry expenses of FICA, medical, etc. Does anyone know how unemployment would be affected? If after 9 months, I'm back in the same boat, would I be eligible???

2. Has anyone done such an arrangement? I'm a little hesitant for the fear of being perceived as a job hopper. Though I was in my last position for 7 years, if I take this, how would it appear in my subsequent search?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
