$80 for a Complete Computer System to JSFG members!

Dear JSFG members:

As a result of our qualification as a non-profit group and subsequent
purchase of computers from Full Circle Group (headed by Linda Blair), we now
qualify for any JSFG member to individually purchase complete computer
systems (including CRT display, keyboard, mouse) for only $80 each! That's
right! If you ever needed a good computer to learn on, to help with your
job search, for your kids, etc., read on.

They come pre-loaded with a licensed copy of Microsoft Windows 2000 Pro
operating system along with Adobe Acrobat Reader, AVG AntiVirus, ZoneAlarm
firewall, and some other utilities (free-but-very-capable versions that are
also mostly free of any ads).

And perhaps more importantly this also includes a pre-loaded Microsoft
Office compatible "office suite" of fully-licensed "open source" software.
I.E., it will create or open and save MS Word "DOC" files, Excel "XLS"
files, PowerPoint files, etc.; or save them as Acrobat-compatible PDF files;
or save them in it's own "more advanced" format.

(If you already have a computer but no modern "office suite", you can read
about or download and install this same totally-free package from
www.openoffice.org .

You can see one of these systems and software in use at our JSFG office
volunteer help desk. (It has been changed, of course, from the original
setup to suit our needs. We hope to have another unit up and running soon
for general use.)

And it gets even better: remote login support and failed hardware swapping
is included for the original configuration for quite a long period (I'm not
free to say just how long, but it's very generous) at no extra charge. It's
much better than the "Big Box" guys!

Also, I'm told, they may be willing to install and "somewhat setup" software
that you supply to them, as long as you have proof of a license for it or it
is freely downloadable for public non-commercial use.

About the only limitation on buying these units is that they are for
"personal" or non-profit use, whether for your student kids, yourself, your
church, etc. Buying for commercial use is forbidden, please, or this deal
might crumble and you might find the IRS knocking on your door wanting to
see your non-profit designation letter!

Some notes: These are donated units that come from commercial businesses
that have upgraded their own systems. Most are business-grade systems
meaning they often hold up better than their consumer/retail counterparts
(with allowances being made for being "used"). However, your "luck of the
draw" choices will vary from day to day, and there are no guarantees as to
what is available on any given day.

Also, it is best to have a rough set of preferred hardware specifications in
mind when you call before visiting, such as the ones we used for our office
systems:

At least 512 MB memory, hard drive of at least 10 GB size, a 17-inch CRT
monitor (sorry, probably no flat LCD panel displays - they're too recent!),
optical mouse with scroll wheel if possible, 700MHz or faster Pentium
processor, DVD/CD player, CD burner, floppy drive, USB ports, fax/phone
modem, Ethernet port, serial & parallel ports, audio, etc.

Many of these hardware features are "integrated" into the available
motherboard, so you're likely not to get a system with a high-performing
graphics card or home theatre audio. However, you can always ask - you
might get lucky!

For the same $80 they sometimes have various models of very nice-looking
Macintosh computers as well, but these are sold without any operating system
since they are not covered by their MAR (Microsoft Authorized Refurbisher)
agreement. Still, it's quite a deal on these traditionally high-performing
units!

They also have some nice commercial-grade printers of various sorts from
time to time for very reasonable amounts. Although they likely work, they
are not guaranteed to work as Full Circle Group can not test them if they
are empty of laser toner or ink jet cartridges which they don't stock.

You could buy those supplies at your own cost and risk for in-shop printer
self-testing (they would likely be the major expense of your purchase).

Here's their contact info (be sure to tell them you are a JSFG member):

And finally.

The more units Full Circle Group can "move", the more likely they are to be
a source of extremely-reasonably-priced computers here in Cincinnati.

Be sure to share the news and tell any other non-profits you know of this
great opportunity to equip their classrooms, meeting and study halls,
children's learning centers, etc. with some good systems. Becoming
"qualified" is very easy.

(This is yet another great reason to belong to JSFG!)
