Purpose:
This FT position provides leadership & direction for children's (birth to
6th grade) education at HPCUMC as well as the care and nurture of those
children and their families
Salary Range:

Administrative Assistant
Childcare Coordinator
Qualifications (in priority order):
1. Currently practicing the Christian faith
2. College degree and/or minimum of 3 to 5 years experience in a related
field
3. Desire to work in the education & nurturing of young children
4. Demonstrated ability to recruit & oversee volunteer teachers and paid
staff
5. Demonstrated ability to select & execute a curriculum for school aged
children
6. Managerial, administrative & organizational skills
Key Responsibilities:
Christian Education-primarily Sunday School program, including Children's
Moments in worship service and Special Needs Ministry
Teacher recruitment, training and retention
Effective communication with teachers, parents, staff & congregation
Sunday School curriculum evaluation, selection, & implementation
Order & maintain curriculum supplies
Maintain budget & calendar
Establish and lead other programming for children, including Vacation Bible
School and special events
Oversee nursery staff & child care needs with childcare coordinator
Provide staff leadership in Children's Ministry area
Ensure implementation of Safe Sanctuary policy
Time Requirements:
Full time position, including Sunday mornings and some required hours in
evenings

CHILDREN'S MINISTRIES ASSISTANT needed 24 hrs/wk including Sundays for admin
support to all weekly Sunday School programs and events. Good communication
& interpersonal skills, computer proficiency (Work, Excel, Publisher), time
flexibility, & desire to work with children & their families and share God's
love required. Knowledge of Shelby software a plus. $12.50/hr. Send cover

Children's & Family Ministries Assistant
Part time, 24 hours per week: 20 hrs during the week; 4 hours on Sunday
morning. Provide administrative support for all weekly Sunday School
programs and ongoing yearly events such as Vacation Bible School, 3rd grade
bibles, 2nd grade communion, Family Camp & Rally Day.
Job requirements:
1. Good communication & interpersonal skills to work with a variety of
people
2. Computer proficiency (Word & Excel; Publisher helpful)
3. An understanding of the needs of children & their families
4. Flexibility to work on Sunday mornings and help with special events on
non-work days
5. Ability to become proficient with church data base & reports (Shelby)
6. Sincere devotion to share God's love
Areas of responsibility:
Infants-2 year old nursery/Sunday School:
Monthly calendar & newsletter
New baby welcome (gift & welcome letter)
Baptism crosses (recruit volunteers & oversee)
New baby meals (alert Meals Ministry coordinator of pending births)
Admin support for Mother's Day Rose fundraising sale
Sunday School: 3 years-K classes: Provide overall coordination of
curriculum, supplies, classroom resources and volunteers. Includes:
Order, maintain & distribute curriculum and resources
With Preschool Volunteer Coordinator, communicate regularly with teachers
to ensure curriculum & classroom needs are met
Assist in the planning, communication & volunteer recruitment for summer
Sunday school
Choose weekly class activities, oversee volunteer preparation
Purchase & organize supplies, snacks
Elementary Sunday School: 1st-6th grade: Interpret curriculum with
teachers & purchase workshop supplies. Provide curriculum to rangers and
assist with overall communication of Sunday morning events, changes, &
supply provisions.
Sunday Mornings: Set up & assist with check-in process of Sunday school.
Assist with 11:00 Children's Church as needed; help recruit volunteers.
Troubleshoot & help in classes if needed.
Special Events: Coordinate mailings, registrations, ongoing communication
with volunteers or lay volunteer coordinators, purchase supplies and assist
with events that include Christmas celebration, communion & bible programs,
family camp, Easter egg hunt, etc. Provide custodians with room diagrams
and instructions.
Vacation Bible School: Co-chairs with Director of Children's & Family
Ministries, serves on VBS committee & available to work the week of VBS.
Identify and coordinate the purchase & donations of supplies and
curriculum. Work closely with teachers to ensure correct supplies and
schedules are available during the week; coordinate registrations &
communication with families.
Database Management: Attendance tracking, registration/new family entry,
teacher profiles, class organization & communication/report infrastructure,
EventU calendar input & changes.
Brochures, newsletters & mailings: Create & update.
Serves on CORE Leadership team.
