actually it works in jaws 12 as well, in outlook express* I think its the mail client and what jaws can read of it that's messing things up on you

maybe the scripter's list could assist in fixing this, unfortunately I can't

Zy:

I usually get this information by pressing insert plus tab. However this info appears after all the messege details like date and subject. Also I am using windows life mail 2009. I don't know if this will work on outlook.

Hi,
I know how to get the total number of messages in any Outlook folder. What I wuld really like to be able to do is to find out where I am in the message
list such as 128 of 740.
I am positive that in some version of JAWS 11 I could see this number by
using insert+up arrow.

George,

I think Cy wants to know how many messages in his list, as well as the one
he is currently highlighting. Sort of makes sense to me now, even if it
didn't yesterday. Are you advocating that we change the subject line?

Cy,

I'm just curious as to why you need to know the xxx of yyy information
in
the folder view. Since I use first-letter navigation to find
folders,I've
never wanted to know where in the overall list a particular folder
resides.

Am I missing a particular "neat trick" that helps us by knowing that
information?

Adrian,
On my HP, W7 64 bit, JAWS 11, Office 2007 the insert+numpad 3 gives me
the
number of messages in the folder.
I really do wish I could find "where" in the folder I am such as 135 of
402.
Insert+tab only gives me what insert+ up arrow does, no numbers.

Two thoughts for how to obtain this information.

First, I just tried this on Outlook 2003 and it worked. While at the
message
list in a folder, switch to the JAWS cursor and go to the bottom line.
Here
the number of messages is read.

2. This doesn't work on my machine, but since insert-3 has stopped
working
on yours, maybe the change makes this one work instead. Insert-tab
ought to
tell you not only the number of messages in a folder, but also where
you're
positioned on that list. I wish this worked here.

Running Jaws 12 with outlook 2007.
I use to hit insert numpad 3 to hear amount of messages in the folder I
was
in.
Now it does not work.
All I changed was the scheme. It has been changed back, but insert does
not
work.
Any helpful suggestions?
