Franky, It was muted and was fixed by hitting the mute key to unmute it.

  Judith, if you are using Windows Media Player the volume can be set 
independently of your system volume. When in media player make sure you try 
raising the volume and make sure it is not muted.

  All of a sudden, tonight when I go to "My Music" and select a song I cannot 
hear the selection.  My husband says that it is playing the selection but I'm 
not hearing it.  (no, its not my hearing!)  Does anyone have a solution to this
