I have also purchased every piece of computer equipment I own
out-of-pocket. When FS accuses me of just whining without caring, and it's
happened, that is my reminder: if I didn't care I wouldn't bother, but I
feel I have an investment to protect.

I look at my attitudes toward JAWs and Window-Eyes, the latter of which I
won in a contest and the former I paid for. I believe that the fact that I
want JAWS to be as good as it can be is due in no small part to the fact
that I want to protect my investment. I've already contributed my money, I
want to contribute in any other way I can, too. Maybe this psychological
thing is just a personal thing with me. But I'm much more inclined to try
to make a difference with something I shelled out for than with something
given to me, though I certainly do apprecaite the gift.

Bruce
