Re: vista, surprise!

I've tried this right since I've had Vista in Marh and never been able to change it to York, United Kingdom where I live.

I do what you'd expect and it stays on the default. Very frustrating.

Hi no jaws f10 gives a list of windows. As these are windows they will
show
up in the list. You just move to the one you want and hit enter.
Or you can use windows g to move from one gadget on the side bar to the
next. No the side bar does not need to be open to use this command.

Jim,

would you please explain the f10 command? I thought you'd said f10 tells
me
the keys for gadgets? hth, I didn't understand what HTH was?

please forgive me, I am not up on the acronyms.

thank you though for the help,

Julian

Open the side bar windows space.
To move from gagit to gagit windows g.
To enter in to a gagit tab jaws will then use the virtual cursor to read
the
gagit. To get a list from jaws of all your gagits and windows jaws f10.

Now, I asked dell if I can do that. they tell me no. I am sure they are
instructed not to tell the customer yes its okay. I guess it defeats the
purpose of vista? in a security term anyway right? I thought about turnng
it

off, its a pain.

the fact you did tels me it must be okay to do so?

I also wonder, anyone here using gadgits? I could swear I read somewhere
that jaws has hot keys for gadgits. I just set my weather here, and dell
told me if I move the mouse over it, it reads the weather, but I can't
use

a

mouse, which we all know, so can anyone please give me a little help? or,
what about is there information in help files for using gadgits? that
might
be best.

thanks,
Julian

Yes Julian it would. In fact I seem to have problems using UAC with JAWS
9, whereby the UAC doesn't talk, so I just switched it off and all is
well.

At 07:03 19/12/2007, you wrote:

Thank you for that. I'd have thought most would want to turn user
accounts

off? Wouldn't that stop it from asking me every time I do anything?

Hi there,
There are couple tutorials, including one produced by freedom
scientific,

Rick Harmon and myself about using Vista.
You need to go to Start/Control Panel/Switch to Classic
view/Personalization/Display in order to get to Display Settings. For
User Acount Control (UAC), you'll need to go to User Accounts and
change
it there. It doesn't really matter if you turn that on or off, but many
people suggest that you turn it on.
Cheers,
Joseph

Well, I just got my laptop. And, I finally remembered why I did not
want

to go for vista. Yes, its going to take quit a long time to get use to
not only the computer instead of my computer, but so so many other
things. I felt lost. I mean, clueless. I know its going to take so
much
time to not only get use to it, but just to learn it.

I wonder, does anyone have any suggestions on how to set up the
display
settings? I didn't even find a display folder. but I didn't see any
thing close to the settings I've seen in xp pro.

also, how about the user settings? can I hut that off? is that safe to
do?

Thank you all for understanding,

Julian
