There's absolutely no need for her to completely uninstall JAWS at all.
That'll only make things worse.
It's been said hundreds upon hundreds of times on this and many other lists
that JAWS versions 4.51 5.0, 5.1 and 6.0 will *not* work with msn messenger
6.2 under windows 98 SE. Not going to work no matter how many settings you
change, uninstalls and re-installs you do, shut downs, disc leanups,
defragmentations and other assorted things.
It simply isn't going to work.
The problem is that microsoft decided it would be a good idea to fix it so
if you upgraded to a newer version that it would be much more difficult to
revert back to an older one. So again, you must remove a key from the registry.
So hopefully she didn't go to all that trouble only to find that it didn't
work afterwords.
