or you can disable both of them in services under admininstrative tools
found in controll panel.

3 things with service pack 2, deb already coverred one of them.
with service pack 2 the m s fire wall is on by default, turn it off the
same way as in prior xp.
right click on my net work neighborhood to do this.
pick properties.
now your in a list box.
if not tab until you are.
p c cursor on and down arrow to local area connection.
[ your mother board may also have local area connection 3 listed, because
some m boards have 2 nicks in them. ]
hit right application key and
pick properties .
control tab to advance page, their you will find the firewall, disable it.
then click o k.
now security center will drive you nuts, so disable that.
here is how.
first hit the win logo key, then letter r for run.
type msconfig and hit enter.
control tab to services page.
in the first list box, find security center and uncheck it with space bar.
