Hello,

This has nothing at all to do with how you're busy, or I'm busy, or Chris,
here, is busy. it has to do with taking responsibility for learning what
you're doing insted of dashing through things like this without thinking.
Say someone sent you the email address for subscribing to this list, as
happens sometimes? Do you just click on it and then forget what happened.
No. Here's what you take a moment to consider:
The time for a person to learn how to unsubscribe from a mailing list is
when they first subscribe to it. First of all, the way to unsubscribe is
almost always a reverse in some way of the subscription method. For
instance, if you sent an email to the listserv address with the word
subscribe in the subject in, then the way to unsub is to send an email to
the very same address, but with the word unsubscribe in the subject line.

Sometimes, the method will involve to separate email addresses, each of
which is dedicated to performing one or the other of these functions. For
example, if in order to subscribe, you were instructed to send a blank email
to lowtech-subscribe@xxxxxxxxxxx, then the way to unsub will be to send a
blank email to the "sister" address dedicated to unsubbing, i.e.,
lowtech-unsub@xxxxxxxxxxxx

These are helpful general rules. But then there's also the welcome message
you get from a list as soon as you've subscribed, and that also contains
every basic instruction you need i order to use the list properly, including
how to unsubscribe from it. This welcome message should be kept, not
deleted.

And finally, there are instructions at the bottom of the posts on nearly all
mailing lists, and for someone who wants to get there without arrowing
("scrolling") through all the quoted messages, a simple control end will
take you to the bottom of an email message, from which you can just arrow up
a few lines to find the instruction.

Hope this helps.

Sorry, I'm not gonna lighten up when it's very
obvious how to unsubscribe. When you first
joined the list, you sent a message to

jfw-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx and put the word
subscribe in the subject line to get on the list,
so why would you send a message to another
address to leave the list? Sending a message to
this address with the word unsubscribe in the
subject line has never worked, and it's not going to work now.
and sending a message to the list asking to be
unsubscribed doesn't work either. If you have
trouble with list related stuff, write to the
moderator off list and he'll help you. That's just how it goes.

Yes, you may have to arrow down past the links in
the message footer, but below that is important
information about the list, so please take 5
seconds out of your day and read it so you'll
know how to unsubscribe if you need to. Then we
won't have to keep going through this all the time.

Ok, rant over. I'll shut up now.
