Geraldine Meeker gave you a very good way to do this in her response to your
post. I have since begin passing it around to others interested in making
blank go away when reading Email, Webpages or any other files. I guess Even
FS doesn't know what is possible with their own program.

See the BGZ 14 podcast on my website:

www.blind-geek-zone.net to listen to instructions on how to make JAWS stop
saying blank for blank lines on web pages, email and other files.

Hi listers, for those who followed the brief
thread about JFW and the announcement of blank
lines in I.E. while using the cursor keys, here
is the reply I received from FS. Chris H., you
were correct, there is no way to turn the
announcements off. I'm going to try modifying
the dictionary and see how that goes. Rock on...Norma

Hi Norma:

Thank you for contacting Freedom Scientific
Technical Support. The only place where you can
turn off the reading of Blank Lines in the JAWS® screen reading
software is when you are having the program
automatically read web pages, or when you are
using the Say All feature of JAWS. However, there is no way
to turn off the announcement of Blank Lines when
you are reading with the arrow keys. Please use
the following steps to turn off the speaking of Blank
Lines, when JAWS automatically reads web pages,
or when using the Say All feature.

1. Open Internet Explorer 7, and then press the
JAWSKey+6, (the 6 on the alphabetic keypad), to
launch the Configuration Manager.

2. When the Configuration Manager is opened,
press Alt+S for the Set Options menu, and then
press the letter Y to open the Say All Options dialog box.

3. Next, press Alt+B to move to and uncheck the
Say Blank Lines setting, and then press the Enter key to accept this
setting.

PLEASE NOTE: if pressing Alt+B checks the Say
Blank Lines setting, then this item was already
unchecked, and saving this setting will have the lines spoken
during Say All. This might not be what you want.

4. Finally, press Control+S to save the setting,
and then press Alt+F4 to close the Configuration
Manager and return to Internet Explorer.

If you have any additional questions regarding
this or any other issue, please don't hesitate to contact us.

If replying to this message, Be sure to include
all previous correspondence pertaining to this
matter so that we might better assist you.

Sincerely,

Subject: Blank line announce in I.E.

Hello, I am using JFW 8.0.244 and I.E. 7. Where can I find the
setting to turn the blank line announcement off? Some on one of the
JFW lists say there is no such feature. If not, I guess I am
wondering why not.

Thank you,
Norma A. Boge
