good question chris, if that broke it it is possible to create a new cd rom 
with service pack 2 slipstreemed on to the disk.

think such a image of it already exist on the net for x p pro that one can 
download.

p s just another reason for backing up your system, its not that hard and 
is much better than sfc or system restore.
