the correct way i believe is hit control plus escape hit the letter r for 
run and type sfc /scannow  that should do it be avised yu should have your 
windows cd in the drive it uses  it too perform,.  also at least when i ran 
it there was no pudating yu too tell you what was going on my computer just 
restarted and i don't even know if it fixed anything.  good luck.
