P.S.

I just went to my desktop and played around a bit, and now I'm more
perplexed than I was before. I'm still using Jaws 6.2, and everything is
okay for me in this regard. Everything speaks, I mean. But I went to the
desktop with Windows key M. Then I tabbed to the start button, the task
bar, and the system tray. Once at the system tray, I used my up and down
arrows, and every item in the system tray spoke as a control button, which I
suppose is what they are. I'd never bothered trying this before, but always
used Insert F11, not wanting to have to go to the desktop just to access my
system tray.

Then I pressed Insert num row 7 to see what it would do, and it brought up
the Configuration Manager and had me in a particular area of the settings
menu, I forget which. So maybe what was meant was to use the Insert F7
command, as you might on a Web site to get a list of the links?

Just checking to be sure about one thing, as I follow this thread: You do
mean Insert num row 7, not insert F7, yes? If so, what's the nominal
purpose of that particular Jaws key combination, which I'm not familiar
with?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Hi Robert,

Could you please do the following test with Jaws 7 without using Insert
+ F11?

Test #1: Windows behavior via its own keystrokes.

Tab to your System Tray and see if Jaws 7 is able to read all listed
icons. Since Jaws 6 is able to detect all of them, this test should be
successful.

Test #2: Jaws 7 Virtual Viewer.

View the System Tray items using Control + Shift + F11. Normally, Jaws 7
should list all items and read them. If Jaws is able to detect all items
then we have a consistency problem because Insert F11 doesn't work
properly. Here, I would revisit my Configuration Manager, check related
settings, and further troubleshoot. If Jaws 7 doesn't detect all items,
then I would simply consider repairing or re-installation.

In case of total failure, I would check any update for my video driver,
check my Windows settings and updates, and finally, FS will be my last
resort.

Please keep us posted.

Best regards,

Adam
