I think I'd try to slim down my resource use, as others have suggested.
One thing you need to know about unloading JAWS, and reloading with a
hot key. If it's running as a network resource, that solution is less
than totally satisfactory, and can cause some quirky behavior,
especially if you have to lock down your screen when you leave your
desk. When you come back, JFW won't work as long as that screen is
locked. This is not necessarily a deal breaker (sometimes, you simply
must unload JFW and bite the bullet), but is something you should
expect.

Hi. It definitely sounds like a JAWS focus issue to me. Obviously,
something is blocking JAWS's ability to focus in IE, so you will need
to close any programs you have running, and use the process of
elimination to figure out why it's happening. Sometimes, not a lot,
but sometimes, if your screen is full of windows, JAWS can get
confused and not focus in the right window. So first I would
eliminate Windows media player. Dang, what a resource hog that thing
is, and it is very very bulky too, it covers up almost of the screen
with its overblown window size. You could put it in compact mode,
but operating it with JAWS 7 may be a challenge, so I don't know if
the IT department would let you install another program such as real
player or Winamp. if you close that and still have the issue, try
outlook. and if that *still* doesn't work, hell just close
everything, unload JAWS and load it up again. I'm not talking about
rebooting here, I'm talking abot pressing insert f4, closing JAWS,
letting it unload from memory, and then reloading it and see if that
doesn't help. Either way, process of elimination is the way to go here.
