status in outlook

hi,
try this,
in outlook main screen, press alt+v then arrow down to layout... and hit enter.
press tab until status bar checkbox, if it is not check, press spacebar to 
check it.

  For whatever reason, when I press the jaws key plus 3 on the numb pad I'm 
only getting the day of the week instead of the number 
of messages and the number of new messages.  Is there a way to fix this?
