I don't have a way to help you solve this, but let me recommend one thing.  And 
that's that it might be helpful to distinguish between what's happening in 
Windows, and what's happening in Jaws.

Now, when you use Alt Tab, you're simply using the Windows keyboard equivalent 
of a sighted user clicking on one of the running applications that's minimized 
to a button in the Task Bar.  So, if you have a problem with that not working, 
or working too slowly, that would be one thing.

But if you somehow know whether or not Alt Tab is working properly, allowing 
you to circulate among running applications, but Jaws isn't reporting quickly 
enough what's going on, that's another thing entirely.

If possible, sighted assistance would help you figure out if Alt Tab isn't 
working right or if Jaws is just hesitating when it's reporting that action.
