There is a standby utility that helps fix common problems.  It is free.  You
can get it at:

http://www.xs4all.nl/%7Ehveijk/mst/indexe.htm

It is really designed for XP Media Center.  I don't know if it helps with
other versions of XP.  There are forums where you can get help.
