no work in the keyboard manager is needed when using 7.10 or above. if
using 7.0 you will need to add the key map. earlier versions of jaws you
can do this by downloading scripts that enable this feature.

One point to clarify. I use the reply to sender function without having
touched the configuration settings. In JAWS 8, at least, the keystroke
requires no preparation.

For anyone who is using a version of JAWS earlier than 7.0, it is pretty
easy to accomplish much the same purpose by pressing alt-t from within the
message window and clicking on "Add to address book." Within that submenu
is "Sender," at which point you can press enter twice to add the sender to
your address book. Then you can forward, not reply, to that person by
starting to type his or her name in the "To" field.

The objection some listers had to this method is that it extends the address
book list, but I make a habit of cleaning mine up regularly.

It started with 7 and here are the instructions.

In JAWS 7, there are new scripts in both the Outlook and
Outlook Express script files that, when enabled, allow you to reply directly

to the individual who sent a message to a list without replying to the whole

list. The scripts are named ReplyDirectlyToSender and here's how to enable
them:

1. Open your e-mail program, Outlook or Outlook Express. This function is
not available to Eudora users.
2. Press INSERT+8 to open the Keyboard Manager.
3. If necessary, press TAB once to move focus into the list if individual
scripts within the script source file.
4. In the list of scripts, locate the ReplyDirectlyToSender script.
5. Press CTRL+A to assign a keystroke to this script. I used CTRL+SHIFT+A
since it wasn't assigned to anything else, but you can use any other
unassigned keystroke.
6. Press TAB once and uncheck the check box that asks if you want to assign
the keystroke only to whatever keyboard configuration (desktop or laptop)
you're using.
7. TAB to the OK button and press ENTER.
8. Press ENTER again to save and exit.

Hi,
I am just curious on something here. I am using version 7.1.0500 on an XP
home system and this command works just fine. Does anyone know how far back
in versions this will work?

Thanks for all the help.

Rich

Not correct.
when replying to a list message:
Control r will reply to the list
control shift r will reply to everyone to whom the message was sent
Jaws key shift r will reply to the original sender of the message only and
not the list.

above is for JFW 8
