Re: removing old JAWS

hello there;

well, when you start the uninstall of a jaws version,
your first being asked, if you want to remove, or leave the shared settings,
obviously, you do not want to remove shared settings, because, this would
definitely hinder the performance of your current version of jaws.
however, as you cycle through the uninstall process,
near the end, do you want to remove settings which were found for david?

your choice are yes no,
I say yes, especially, if I'm wanting to remove the old version, no need to
have the old version settings, which are found in documents and
setting,/user/freedomscientific,
however, if you feel more safe to leave them? this is fine too.

I agree. I'd be curious if that's what David is getting at, too.

Adrian,

I was afraid that the settings they were referring to were those which would
control the current version. (LOLLOLLOL)

I sure did not want to mess that up and have a JAWS which was completely
useless.

David,

Would you elaborate on why you say "Yes" to remove account settings? One part
of this question is whether these account settings are those set only for the
version of JAWS being removed or whether removal affects account settings in
the system's most current version.

Thanks.

hello there;

yes, however, the second time your being asked if you want to remove settings,
this refers to, whether you want to save or remove the settings for the version
account settings.

I always say no to, remove shared settings,

and I say yes to remove account settings,

Subject: removing old JAWS

Hi All,

Well, I sucessfully removed my old versions of JAWS without a hitch.

I used the JAWS provided uninstall software to accomplish the task and it works
very well.

Only problem was that, during the removal process, the current JAWS stopped
talking and after all was said and done I have to re-set the "run JAWS at
startup" and "run JAWS from system tray" options.

Now, be advised that there are two places where the uninstaller asks you for a
choice to also remove shared or settings.

The first asks about shared components and, after it gets underway then it
sneaks in the question to remove your settings. (LOLLOL)

As they say, let the buyer beware. (LOLLOL)
